2 genius kitchen design ideas

Reinvent your kitchen space

Follow the lead of our Instagram collaborators Pézie Beaudin and Mélissa Leduc and reinvent your kitchen. Check out these two inspiring ideas to transform your kitchen into a multi-purpose space … and get a sensational look while you’re at it!

IDEA 1: Give your breakfast nook a new purpose

When she painted her breakfast nook black, collaborator and designer Pézie Beaudin (@pezie.beaudin) didn’t foresee that she’d also be using it as a workspace. So, she decided to repaint it in one of her favourite colours: green. But not just any green: Sico 2022 Colour of the Year Cool Current (6199-42). She chose this hue for its peaceful and serene tones. The nook is now the most light-filled and stimulating corner of her home: the perfect space to feel calm and get her creativity flowing!

Accessorize for a polished look

Pézie (@pezie.beaudin) completed the colour scheme of the nook by adding lighter and darker elements to the soft green wall, in white, grey and beige. She added crisp white back cushions as a complement to the green wall. With this natural colour scheme developing, she kept the brick wall bare for a raw effect. She also added a small round table - a must for the working day. Now, Pézie feels happy and at peace when she works and eats in the transformed space.

IDEA 2: The kitchen, reinvented

For her flexible spaces project, our collaborator Mélissa Leduc (@dusty_rose_blog) decided to reconfigure her kitchen’s dining area to add storage. With a lack of kitchen cabinets, she needed a place to store plates and other dishware. So, Mélissa created a visual boundary by painting the two adjacent walls of her dining area, giving the space a distinct look. She chose Sico Pinewood (6192-31) for its warmth. Mélissa finds that this colour gives her kitchen a vintage, cottagey vibe.

Furnish with style

Once the space is painted, you can revamp your furniture for a unified design. Mélissa (@dusty_rose_blog) updated a little vintage table and added two comfy chairs to the dining area. This furniture gives the space a distinct personality. She says the space makes her feel good. Now, she can cook, eat and store her dishware all in the same place.
