BRING YOUR WALLS TO LIFE
Moulding is generally used at the ceiling and at the base of walls, or to frame doors and windows. But it can also be applied to the surface of a wall to give it a whole new look. There are many ways to decorate with moulding. It’s up to you to choose the design you want for your room. Here are 8 simple steps to create a wall with decorative moulding all by yourself!
What you’ll need:
pencil
sheet of paper
painter's tape
moulding
saw
nail gun or nails and a hammer
woodfiller
caulking
sanding block
can of paint, paint tray and paintbrushes
STEP 1: Design the wall
First, draw your design on a sheet of paper, then determine the measurements. Let your imagination run wild: the options are almost endless at this stage.
STEP 2: Draw the design onto the wall
Copy the design onto the wall with the help of a yardstick.
STEP 3: Measure and cut the moulding
Measure the moulding and draw a line with a pencil. Then, cut the moulding with a saw.
STEP 4: Attach the moulding
Attach the moulding to the wall with a nail gun or nails and a hammer.
STEP 5: Fill holes and caulk
Now that the mouldings are attached to the wall, fill the nail holes with wood filler and caulk the joints. Wait for the wood filler to dry completely before moving to the next step.
STEP 6: Sand the surface
Sand the filled holes to create a smooth, clear surface.
STEP 7: Paint the wall
Paint the entire wall and the moulding with the Sico paint colour of your choice. Let dry and you’re done!
STEP 8: Decorate your space
Finally, decorate your space with furniture and accessories that you love.
And there you have it! Just 8 simple steps for a project that adds lots of character to your décor.
